Bob Sheets Lecture - description below from a Seattle magician.
Bob Sheets is a good magician and a very funny guy. He starts out his lecture with his variation of the Trevor Lewis trick "The Homing Card" with influences from Fred Kaps and his "Reoccurring Queen". The trick had a surprise, instant, mid flight card change that got us all!

Next was his take on the Sach's Dice Trick followed by a very clever variation of Pat Page's 3 Card Monte.

He then went into a marvelous rope routine...Hang em High & Insomnia. There was a short break after the first hour.

After the break he did some more rope magic. Cards Across (to an envelope hanging on a long piece of rope) which set up his version of Robert Harbin's Rope thru Body. As with most good lectures, not only did we learn lots of good audiences tested routines but more importantly they were sprinkled with his thinking; for instance, rather than take painstaking efforts to prove at the end of the routine. . . "do all your proof before the effect so at the end, you can simply accept the applause. Sounds simple but a great point. I was also introduced to some nifty rope gimmicks I had never heard of as well as the idea of using marine epoxy to install them.

He finished his lecture with his trade mark work on the Three Shell Game. It's no wonder that he is considered one the the premier performers in the thimble rigging game of chance. FUN STUFF. He definitely has some original thinking on the subject!

As he admitted, "He stands on the shoulders, heads and faces of those who came before him", but what a job he does.

I really liked the wisdom that he shared as a result of his study with Bob Fitch in his theatrical workshops.
He made the point, that as magicians, we treat our stuff. . . like stuff. We miss the details and this can take away from the magic we are trying to create. Another thing that struck a nerve, was that if something is important to us it will be important to our audience. It sounds simple, but we all do it. Sequences lack depth and punch because of our own self defeating lack of conviction.

Peter Davison is a one-of-a-kind artist who transforms the stage into a magical world of motion. In his new one-man show, the ordinary becomes extraordinary – it’s a kinetic celebration of life unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Drawing on his talents in juggling (1982 National Juggling Champion) and dance (2008 Ballet Builders NYC award for new choreography) Peter explores human interaction with objects, and illustrates the memories, imaginings and emotions that objects can inspire. Often humorous and sometimes dramatic, the performance appeals to all ages.

Hats, coats, a chair, a table, a bottle, a newspaper, trash bags, a letter, and other simple objects come alive, animated by virtuoso movement skills and a vivid imagination.

Peter has been Co-Artistic Director of Boulder Ballet since 2004, and he performs the role of Drosselmeyer, the magical godfather, in Boulder Ballet’s annual “Nutcracker” ballet with the Boulder Philharmonic and Longmont Symphony orchestras.

Prior to his leadership role with Boulder Ballet, Peter toured with the Boulder-based juggling/dance trio Airjazz during the 1980’s and 90’s, performing at venues such as the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, New Zealand International Festival of the Arts, and the Hong Kong Arts Festival.

Ted Barlock -  Come and see some classical Magic done by a skilled performer. Ted is coming in from Germany for this show! He has performed his "Gentleman-style" of sophisticated sleight-of-hand combined with poetry and magic in many countries across the globe. Also a renowned author and scholar on the theory and performance of magic, Ted Barlock always enchants the audience with his unique style and true class. Enjoy!

Dream Masterz, Joe Givan & Carol Massie  will present a mix of routines they have made famous as well as new effects cloaked in a Neo-Victorian theme. They had their own show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and have won 3 world championships in Magic and Illusion and have been featured on television internationally many, many times. Dream Masterz, Joe and Carol followed their own dream and opened their "Theatre of Dreams" in April of 2003 in Castle Rock! Thanks for your continued support!

    SUMMER WIZARD CAMP! - 8th ANNUAL...LEARN MAGIC!

Learning Magic is excellent for dexterity, self confidence, stage presence
and self motivation.
Heavy focus on performance, creativity and presentation.
Classes taught by two professional award winning magicians, the Dream Masterz!

LEVEL ONE ( BEGINNERS) & LEVEL TWO:   (Level Two students need to have completed level one or some magic experience).

WHEN? July 18-21st   Sign-up deadline for June classes is July 1, 2011

TIME? 9:30 am - 12:30 pm each day.   Recital for family & friends at NOON on Thursday, July 23 (Professional Stage Show).

WHO?: Ages 7 and up! ...boys and girls!

COST?: $175 includes supplies needed, "Got magic" bag, and Recital Show for family & friends!
